Nicolas Fendley

March 27, 2007 — March 18, 2022

Nicolas Craig Fendley was born on Tuesday, March 27, 2007, in Bettendorf, Iowa, to parents Craig and Christal (Smith) Fendley.  He lived with his family in Maysville, Iowa, most of his life, and was welcomed into Heaven on March 18, 2022.

Nic was hugs, blue eyes, and smiles. He loved Jesus, his Mom & Dad, big sister Vallarie and little brother Zac, as well as his extended family and his kitty Missy (who loved Nic, too).  He was thankful, too, for his friends.

He worked hard at his schoolwork and was in his freshman year, having been home schooled since kindergarten. He had a mind for math and was meticulous in detail.  He was active in Youth Groups at First Evangelical Free Church and Pleasant View Baptist Church, as well as Community Bible Study. Nic had recently renewed his commitment to God, and had memorized parts of the Gospel of John, including 1:1-14 and 14:1-6. Among the last words he memorized were Jesus’ encouragement not to let his heart be troubled, and that He promised to go and prepare a place for him.

He loved doing many things with his family.  He loved playing video and board games with them. He was a gamer who loved playing Fortnite with friends, brother, and dad. NERF Wars with friends was another favorite. Nic loved to play ping-pong and had his own paddle and special shoes.  He only learned the game 3 years ago, but had beaten his grandfathers and his own dad many times.

He loved spending time with his grandparents: playing ping-pong and logging with Grandpa Mike, helping Grandma Jan with sewing, playing Pokemon Go with Grammy Gail, and mini-golf with Papa Rick, as well as having sleepovers with them. He loved LEGO, especially BIG projects such as the Millennium Falcon. He enjoyed internet meme songs and electronic music.  Skillet and KB were his favorite artists, whom he recently saw in concert. He also enjoyed other Christian music and KLOVE was always playing on his radio (and still is today).  He loved many outdoor activities, including basketball, riding his bike or scooter, fishing, and generally meeting all kinds of living creatures.

Honoring his memory are his parents and siblings; grandparents Mike and Janice Fendley, of Maysville; Rick and Gail Smith of Davenport, Iowa; many aunts, uncles, and cousins including Tim and Brenda (Fendley) Johnston of Roseville, California, with cousins Paige, Faith, Seth, and Noelle; John and Stasi (Smith) McAteer of San Diego, California, with cousins Maggie and Kieran; and Josiah and Shannon (Donbroski) Smith of Brooklyn Park, Minnesota, with cousins Ethan, Naomi, and Levi.  He will be missed more than we can say.

Services will be held at 10: 30 a.m. on Wednesday, March 30th at First Evangelical Free Church, Moline Illinois. Visitation will be from 5:00-7:00 p.m. on Tuesday evening at the church.  In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to First Evangelical Free Church.
