Norma A. Harms, 90, of Eldridge, Iowa, passed away on Thursday, April 28, 2016 at Genesis Medical Center-West Campus in Davenport.

Funeral services will be held at 11:30 a.m., Monday, May 2, 2016 at Faith Lutheran Church in Eldridge where she was a member.  Visitation will be held from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the services on Monday at the church.  Burial will follow in Davenport Memorial Park.  Memorials may be made to the Eldridge Volunteer Fire Department or to Medic EMS.

Norma was born August 21, 1925 in Scott County, Iowa, the daughter of Frank & Alfreda (Pahl) Karstens.  She was united in marriage to John “Jack” Harms Sr. on September 16, 1945 in Davenport.  He preceded her in death.

Norma had been employed in earlier years with the Palmer College Bookstore, Petersen Harned Von Maur in downtown Davenport and the Main & Locust Pharmacy.  She and Jack enjoyed RV camping for many years with their family.

Norma was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.  She embraced all children and will be remembered for her loving nature to everyone she met.

Those left to honor Norma’s memory include her daughter, Jaclynn Snyder of Eldridge; her sons, J.T. Harms of Eldridge and Dan (Susan) Harms of Oregon, Wisconsin; her grandchildren, Michele (Mark) Mess, Chadd (Tiffany) Knisley, Nicole (Chris) Kreul, Brandon Harms, Christy (Scott) Hobert, Darren (Christine) Harms and Robyn Harms; nine great-grandchildren; and two great-great grandchildren.

In addition to her husband, Jack, Norma was preceded in death by her parents; her sister, Pearl Rohlk; her brother, Albert Karstens; her son-in-law, Royce Snyder; and her great-granddaughter, Madelyn Mess.

Norma’s family would like to express special thanks to the Eldridge Volunteer Fire Department and Medic EMS for all of their compassionate service and to Dr. Matt Neil and his staff, including nurse Cindy for all of their kindness and concern during this time.
