Norma Jean Nigh, 91, a resident of LeClaire, Iowa, died Tuesday, July 29, 2014 at UnityPoint Trinity Hospital in Bettendorf.
Funeral services celebrating her life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, August 1, 2014 at McGinnis-Chambers Funeral Home in Bettendorf. Visitation will be one hour prior to services on Friday. A graveside service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, August 2 nd at Hamilton Cemetery in rural Modena, MO. Memorials may be made to CASI, Center for Active Seniors in Davenport.
Norma Jean was born on November 12, 1922 in Ottumwa, IA, the daughter of Cecil and Rosa (Mock) Bain. On September 16, 1939 in Gallatin, MO, she married Donald Nigh.
Norma Jean was a homemaker for most of her life but also worked as a janitor for the former St. Luke’s Hospital in Davenport and as a cook for the former Riverdale School and then for the Pleasant Valley School District.
Norma Jean enjoyed gardening and loved flowers and playing the organ. She cherished her time spent with family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Those left to honor her memory include her husband, Donald; two daughters, Jody (Jerry) Arguello of LeClaire and Joan Fenn of Columbiaville, MI; son, Jerry (Lora) Nigh of Delmar, IA; eight grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren; and a brother, Doyet Bain of Washington state.
She was preceded in death by her parents; two grandchildren; and a brother, Winton Bain.
