Norma J. Steinmann, 78, of Davenport, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, January 24, 2009 with her loving family by her side.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 A.M., Tuesday, January 27, 2009 at McGinnis-Chambers Funeral Home, Bettendorf. Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Oakdale Memorial Gardens. Memorials may be made to the Handicapped Development Center.
Norma was born September 16, 1930 in Centerville, Iowa, the daughter of Versal & Dessie Mae (Roe) Paxston.
She was an excellent seamstress and also enjoyed cooking and gardening. By far, however, her greatest talent was the wonderful family she graced the world with and proudly loved and nurtured.
As Norma’s mother’s legacy was passed on to Norma, her legacy is further passed on to her family. In reflection of birth and death, we are reminded that a mother will wait quietly for the birth of her baby and, in death, we then wait to hear the final breath.
Those left to honor her memory include her daughters, Dianna (Rod) Struss, of Bettendorf, Christine (Mark) Vitosh, of Leland, Illinois and Carrie Steinmann, of Davenport; her son, Edward (Lori) Steinmann, of Des Moines, Iowa; her grandchildren, Chad Struss, Jarod Struss, Sarah Gripp, Terri Steinmann, Beth Steinmann and Danielle Vitosh; 12 great-grandchildren; her sister, Colleen (Jim) Collier, of LeClaire, Iowa; and her brother, William (Judy) Paxston, also of LeClaire.
Norma was preceded in death by her parents; and her sister, JoAnn.
