Norman R. Miller, 86, a resident of Davenport, Iowa died on Monday, January 16, 2012 at his home.

His funeral service will be held at 11:00 A.M. Saturday, January 21, 2012 at the McGinnis-Chambers Funeral Chapel in Bettendorf. He will be laid to rest at Davenport Memorial Park where military honors will be conducted. Visitation will be from 3:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. Friday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the family to be used for donations to their favorite charities.

He was born April 20, 1925 in Washington, Iowa, the son of Roy L. & Erna M. (Spera) Miller and graduated from Washington High School. After graduation, he enlisted in the U.S. Navy and was honorably discharged on May 16, 1946.

On December 24, 1945, he was united in marriage to Edna Grace Silver in New Orleans, Louisiana. She preceded him in death on October 29, 1987.

Norm had a life-long passion for antique cars and owned & operated Norm’s Antique Auto Supply in Davenport since the early 1960’s.

He was a charter member, board member and past-president of the Antique Auto Club of America was a national judge of antique automobiles for many years. He was also a member of the Antique Ford Car Club and the Antique Studebaker Car Club of America. Norm was also a charter member of the World War II Museum in New Orleans, a member of Zion Lutheran Church of Princeton, Iowa, a member of the American Legion Post 26 of Davenport and in 2010 joined other World War II veterans on the Honor Flight to Washington, D.C.

Those left to honor his memory include his daughters, Debbie (Mike) Bickford of Davneport, Pamela Miller of Bellevue, Nebraska and Donna (Tim) Mooney of Ames, Iowa; his brother, Mervin (Mary) Miller of Winnebago, Illinois; many beloved nieces and nephews; and a close & special friend, Virginia Helble of Davenport.

In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by his sister, Elnora Ross; and his parents.
