Noval J. “Joseph” Rector, 91, of LeClaire, Iowa passed away peacefully on Sunday, August 29, 2021 at the Clarissa C. Cook Hospice House, Bettendorf with his family at his bedside.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Sunday at McGinnis-Chambers Funeral Home, Bettendorf. Visitation will be from 1:00 – 4:00 p.m. on Saturday afternoon at the funeral home. Burial will be in Glendale Cemetery, LeClaire. Memorials may be directed to the family.
Joe was born on August 28, 1930 in Lebanon, Missouri, the son of Joe and Lucy (Hill) Rector. He served two years in the second infantry of the U.S. Army during the Korean War. On September 17, 1954 he was united in marriage to Marilyn A. Parrick in LeClaire. Joe retired from Alcoa in 1987.
Joe helped build the LeClaire baseball fields and he enjoyed coaching the LeClaire boys baseball programs. He and his wife, Marilyn, owned and operated Rector’s Lo Camp Resort on Otter Tail Lake in Minnesota for 30 years. He was also an avid St. Louis Cardinals fan. Above all, Joe was a loving and caring husband to his wife for 53 years, father to six sons, and grandfather to his 13 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.
Those left to honor his memory are his sons, Randy Rector of LeClaire, Ron (Linda) Rector of LeClaire, Ryan (Kim) Rector of Seneca, South Carolina, Rob (Janet) Rector of LeClaire, and Rich (Kris) Rector of LeClaire; 13 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Eric, on April 7, 2002; his wife, Marilyn, on December 13, 2007; and his siblings, Earl, Grace, and Irene.
