Orville “Butch” Griebel, 69, a resident of Davenport, passed away peacefully in his sleep at his home on Sunday, April 10, 2016 after a long battle with congestive heart failure and lung cancer.
Funeral services celebrating his life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, April 15, 2016 at McGinnis-Chambers Funeral Home in Bettendorf. Burial will be at Rock Island National Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Thursday, April 14th from 6:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the family for a memorial to be determined.
Born on September 17, 1946 in Davenport, the son of Orville and Clarice (Lachanski) Griebel. On December 8, 1965 in Davenport, he married Pamela Baner.
Butch proudly served his country in the United States Army from 1965 – 1967 during the Vietnam War. He worked for J.I. Case in Bettendorf until its closing and then worked for Blackhawk Foundry for 22 years until his retirement. Butch enjoyed camping, fishing, hunting, and watching NASCAR, especially Terry Labonte.
Those left to honor his memory include his wife of 50 plus years, Pamela; daughters, Aricka (Randy) Strayer of Davenport and Amanda (Lee) Seaman of Colona, Illinois and a son, Todd (Christine) Griebel of Coweta, Oklahoma; grandchildren, Crystal and Cory Strayer, Ethan, Tyler and Katlyn Seaman, Michael, Matthew and Mason Griebel; sisters, Sandy Warner, Bonnie Johnson and Dawn Fetters.
He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Angela; and a brother, David Griebel.
