Patricia Brown

Patricia “Pat” Ann Brown, 72, of Eldridge, Iowa passed away on Friday, February 8, 2013 after challenging small intestine cancer.

A Funeral Mass will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, February 12, 2013 at St. Ann’s Catholic Church in Long Grove, IA.  Visitation will be held from 5:00-7:00pm on Monday, February 11, 2013 at Chambers Funeral Home in Eldridge, IA and from 10:00am until the time of service Tuesday.   A private, family inurnment service will be held at the Rock Island National Cemetery.

Patricia Ann (Pope) Brown was born on June 23, 1940 in Detroit, Michigan, the daughter of Robert and Mabel Ruth (Kemp) Pope.  On April 23, 1960 in Colorado Springs, CO, she married Raymond Dean Brown.

Pat graduated from St. Agnes Catholic High School in Detroit, MI.  She proudly served her country in the United States Air Force at Ent Air Force Base in Colorado Springs, CO from 1958 –1960.  While living in Colorado, she met her husband, Ray, who served in the United States Army.  Pat and Ray moved to Des Moines, IA.  Pat was a wonderful mother to three children.  When her children started grade school, she worked for the Des Moines School lunch program and Dahl’s Grocery Store Soda Fountain café.  After moving to Eldridge, Iowa in 1976, she worked at JC Penney Coffee Gallery, Davenport; Tomberg’s, Eldridge; Innovation Group, Davenport; and Iowa One Call, Davenport.  Pat supported Gilda’s Club as a breast cancer survivor.

Patricia was a member of St. Ann’s Catholic Church in Long Grove, the Antique Engine and Tractor Association in Geneseo, IL and IH Collectors Chapter 5 in Iowa.  Pat and Ray participated in local parades and shows riding their Volkswagen trike and IH Tractors for many years.  She enjoyed spending time with her husband and children taking summer vacations, camping, boating, and snowmobiling.  She loved to read, sew, walk her dog, Suzie, and to learn to use her computer.  Patricia was a devoted wife and mother who cherished spending time with her family.

Those left to honor her memory include her husband, Raymond; three children:  Marcia (Steve) Larssen of Eldridge, Randy Brown of Davenport; and Becky (Gary) Ginter of Walcott; seven grandchildren:  Jessica Alberhasky, Eric Larssen, Ryan McManaway, Justin Brown and Tyler Brown , Amanda Langston, and Stephany Ginter;  three great-grandchildren:  Kyler Ginter, Sammy Brown and Kameron Brown;  three siblings:  Susan Miller of Wixom, MI and Denise (Charlie) Bowling of Cincinnati, OH and Robert E. (Sandy) Pope of Temperance, Michigan.    She was preceded in death by her parents; brother-in-laws, Larry Miller and Richard Brown and sister-in-law, Nicole Brown.
