A Celebration Of Life for Patricia Ann Ernst, 83, of Bettendorf will be 2:00 pm on Saturday at McGinnis-Chambers Funeral Home, Bettendorf, Iowa. Family will greet friends on Saturday from 1:00 pm to service time at the funeral home on Saturday. Pat passed away on Monday, December 6, 2021, at the Clarissa C. Cook Hospice House, Bettendorf, Iowa.

Pat was born on March 21,1938 in Maquoketa, Iowa, the daughter of Andrew and Elva Jeffers. She married Lyle Ernst, the love of her life, on December 15, 1957. The two of them loved to dance, they even won several dance competitions, and both were avid Willie Nelson Fans. Her family meant the world to her – anyone who visited her was engulfed with tons of pictures, her kids, grandkids, and great-grandkids were her life. The great grandkids fondly referred to her as GG. Pat worked at K&K Hardware in Bettendorf for 32 years – during her time there she helped and touched the lives of many of her co-workers along with customers. Pat was definitely a fashionista, always up on the latest styles. After retirement from K&K she took a part time job at Dress Barn and loved it.  Pat loved sports, she was an official member of the die-hard Cubs fan club and would proudly show you her card obtained in 1957.

She was a devoted Iowa Hawkeye fan, and her favorite NFL team was the New Orleans Saints because she loved Drew Brees.

Those left to honor her memory are her children, Cindy (Jay) Van Fossen of Bettendorf, Jeff (JoLin) Ernst of Arlington, Texas, Shari (Bruce) Nelson of Bettendorf.

Grandchildren, Matthew Ernst, Eric (Stephany) Ernst, Kyle Spies (Jillian Cawley), Benjamin (Candi) Nelson, Nate Nelson (Alyssa Rector), 13 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

Those who had the pleasure of knowing her will treasure the memories of her kindness, sense of humor and smile. She will be greatly missed by all.

She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, and siblings (sister and brother).

Memorials may be directed to the family for a future memoriam to be constructed in the honor of their parents.
