Paul W. Arvidson of Princeton, Iowa passed away at his home on January 23, 2023.
A service to celebrate his life will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Friday, January 27, 2023 at the McGinnis-Chambers Funeral Home in Bettendorf. Visitation will be from 10:00 A.M. to 11:00 A.M. Friday at the funeral home. Private family graveside services will follow at the Rock Island National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the VFW, the Wounded Warrior Project or the Humane Society of Scott County.
Paul was born in Des Moines, IA, to Paul G. Arvidson and Barbara (Savage) Arvidson (Broff). Paul attended high school in Bettendorf, IA, graduating in 1956. After high school, he served in the US Navy. He graduated from the University of Iowa with a degree in engineering.
He married Jacqueline M. Morton in 1965 at the First Presbyterian Church in Davenport, IA. They built a home in Princeton, IA. Paul worked as a mechanical engineer at the Rock Island Arsenal for many years, retiring in 1988.
Paul was a Scott County Master Gardener for many years. Hobbies over the years included garden railroads, running, biking, camping, stained glass, and travel. He had a lifetime love of animals, making space for hawks, dogs, cats, peacocks, and occasional wild animals.
In addition to friends, those left to honor Paul's memory include his wife Jacqueline, daughter Ericka (Ed) Raber, and grandchildren Meredith and Henry Raber.
