Paul Henry Jones

Funeral services for Paul Henry Jones, 89, of Bettendorf, Iowa will be 1:00 p.m. on Friday, September 20, 2024 at the McGinnis-Chambers Funeral Home, Bettendorf. Burial will follow at the Rock Island National Cemetery where military rites will be conducted by the American Legion, Post 26, Davenport. The family will greet friends on Thursday, September 19, 2024 from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Masonic Services and Eastern Star services will take place at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. 

Paul passed away on Friday, September 13, 2024, at Genesis Medical Center – East Campus, Davenport. 

Paul Henry Jones was born on June 9, 1935, in Sullivan, MO, the son of William and Corinne (Reed) Jones. He married Billie “Joan” Tyra on December 17, 1954, in Baldwin Park, CA. He worked as a Missouri State Trooper, retiring as a Lieutenant on January 1, 1992, after 34 years of service. He served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean Conflict. 

Paul was a Masonic member for 62 years. He was a member of the Bend of River Lodge #626, Bettendorf, Hamilton Lodge #664, Bettendorf, Snow Lodge #44, LeClaire, Alford-Hardin #925, Hardin, KY, Kaaba Shrine, Davenport, Davenport Scottish Rite, Davenport Chapter #178 OES, American Legion #26, Davenport for 62 years, a Charter member of the Iowa Memorial Lodge, and also a member of The Masters (a organization for Missouri Troopers who died while on duty).

Paul enjoyed boating, fishing, and anything having to do with water. 

Survivors include his wife, Joan of Bettendorf, sons, W. Michael Jones of Bettendorf, Jeffrey Jay Jones of Buffalo, WY, four grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, sister, Jacquelin (Ron) Donner of Northfield, MN and a cousin, Ralph Reed. 

He was preceded in death by his parents.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Transportation Fund of the Kaaba Shrine.
