Paul E. Mooney, Jr., 75, of Bettendorf, passed away Thursday, October 25, 2012 at Genesis Medical Center, East Campus in Davenport.

Funeral services celebrating his life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, October 29, 2012 at McGinnis-Chambers Funeral Home in Bettendorf. Burial will be at Pine Hill Cemetery in Davenport. Visitation will be from 2:00 p.m. – 5:00 p.m. on Sunday, October 28 th at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the family.

Born on May 15, 1937 in Davenport he was the son of Paul E. Sr. and Edna (Claussen) Mooney. On January 12, 1957 at Newcomb Presbyterian Church in Davenport, Paul married Monie Weatherly.

Paul graduated from Davenport High School in 1955. He was a printer for most of his life and worked as a meat demonstrator at the Bettendorf Hy-Vee for the last six years, affectionately known as “Paul the Meat Man.” Paul and Monie were charter members of Harmony Hills Baptist Church in Bettendorf.

Paul was an avid collector of Marvel X-Men action figures. He was a devoted family man, enjoying his time spent with this wife, children and grandchildren.

Those left to honor his memory include his wife, Monie of Bettendorf; two daughters, Penny Skinner of Davenport and Wendy Boyer of Bettendorf; one son, Paul E. Mooney, III and his significant other, Lonnie of Hillsboro, Texas; ten grandchildren, Amber (David) Ford, Michael Paul (Trisha) Skinner, Cody Bear (Bryanna) Skinner, Andrew (Courtney) Skinner, Whitney (Adam) Metz, Amanda Boyer and her significant other, Nick McCrady, Emily Boyer, Morgan Boyer, Daniel Mooney and Dylan Mooney; twelve great-grandchildren, Taylor, Madisen and Shelby Ford; Jaydlyn, Logan and Lillian Rose Skinner, Tatum Skinner, Carter McCrady, Avery Metz,  Addison, Lexi and Faith Metz; two great-grandchildren expected soon; three sisters, Georgia (Bob) Burris of Flippin, AR, Pat (Stan) Brown of Davenport, Pam Getteret and her significant other Chuck Holst of Bettendorf; two brothers, Terry (Jan) Mooney of Flippin, AR and David Mooney of Bettendorf.

He was preceded in death by his parents, grandson, Paul E. Mooney, IV, Son-in-Law Michael Skinner and one brother, Kenny Mooney.
