Paul Eugene Marshall, 79, a resident of Bettendorf died Tuesday, December 16, 2008 at his home.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Monday, December 22, 2008 at the McGinnis-Chambers Funeral Chapel, Bettendorf. Visitation will be from 2:00 P.M. to 5:00 P.M. Sunday at the funeral home and one hour prior to the service Monday. Burial will be in Rock Island National Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the family.
Paul was born May 25, 1929 in Davenport, Iowa the son of Harry O. and Viola C. (Rice) Marshal. He attended Davenport high school and was a member of the swim team. He was united in marriage to Betty Woreck in Bettendorf on May 1, 1989.
Paul worked for nearly 60 years as an iron worker with local 111. He was also a member of the Davenport Police Department and owned the Willowbrook Inn in Davenport.
He was a member of the Bettendorf VFW Post 9128 and a longtime member of Alcoholics Anonymous. The grace of God and the fellowship of AA helped Paul to live a life of peace, serenity, gratitude and humility.
He was a jack-of-all-trades and a master of most. He enjoyed being with family, attending his grandchildren’s sporting events and spending time in his yard soaking up the rays for a year-round tan. He was in charge of everything to the very end.
Those left to honor his memory include his wife, Betty; his children, Ronald Boling, Jacksonville, Florida, Jeff (Beja) Marshall, Davenport, Mike (Lisa) Huff, Davenport, Stephen (Gracie) Hessong, Maquoketa, Iowa, Shannon (Sue) Hessong, Blue Grass, Iowa, Mark (Sarah) Breon, Stoughton, Wisconsin, Tim (Laura) Luken, East Moline, Illinois, Kathy Luken, Anchorage, Alaska, Steve (Joette) Luken, Rock Island, Stan (Bonnie) Moore, Stoughton, Wisconsin, Jesse (Kerrie) Lowery, Kissimmee, Florida and John (Laurie) McCartin, Sandwich, Massachusetts; A bunch of grandchildren and great-grandchildren. and his “sidekicks” Moe and Smokey.
He was preceded in death by his son’s Bill Boling and Stephen Marshall and one grandchild
