Pauline Mary Brunt, 87, a long-time resident of Bettendorf, Iowa died on Wednesday, September 15, 2010 at Crest Health Center in Davenport, Iowa.
Family services will be held on Saturday at the McGinnis-Chambers Funeral Chapel in Bettendorf. She will be laid to rest at Davenport Memorial Park. Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.
She was born November 20, 1922 in King’s Lynn, Norfolk, England. On March 29, 1947, Pauline was united in marriage to Peter Anthony Brunt in London, England. She met her husband during World War II and after the war, they left England moved to Trinidad for a short time. They later moved to Canada and in 1962, moved to Bettendorf. Peter preceded her in death on June 30, 1980.
Pauline was an elementary school teacher in London and later at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic School in Bettendorf. She was a devout Catholic and heavily involved with her church as a Eucharistic Minister for many years.
She served as a blood donor recruiter for the Mississippi Valley Blood Center for many years and was a former member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church and St. John Vianney Catholic Church.
Pauline was a Girl Scout Leader and served as president of the Girl Scouts Council. In addition, she was president of the Horticultural Society and had attained the title of Master Gardener.
Reading, gardening & her beloved family were the joys of her life.
Those left to honor her memory include her daughters, Marilyn (Michael) Sheffield in New York and Geraldine (Dennis) Croquart of Bettendorf; her sons, Philip (Diana) Brunt of Corona, California and Damian (Linda) Brunt of Davenport; her grandchildren, Andrea (Marc) Beck, Anthony (Michelle) Brunt, Mark (Sjonna) Brunt, Kristin (Jason) Clark, Angela (Chris) Jensen, Rachel Croquart and Michelle Croquart; three great-grandchildren; her sister, Tessa Cooper; and her niece, Annette.
