Pearl D. Lafrenz

Pearl D. (Bender) Lafrenz, 88, a resident of the Postillion Home, Davenport, Iowa and formerly of Eldridge, Iowa and Washington, Iowa died Sunday, March 28, 2004 at the home.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Wednesday, March 31, 2004 at Chambers Funeral Home, Eldridge. Burial will be in Greenlawn Cemetery, Afton, Iowa. Visitation will be from 10:00 A.M. to 11:00 A.M. Wednesday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice.
Pearl was born October 3, 1915 in Osborne, Kansas, the daughter of Henry J. & Mary (Farrier) Curl. She married Donald W. Bender in Washington, Iowa on April 9, 1938. He preceded her in death in 1948. She later married Herman Lafrenz in Davenport, Iowa on October 24, 1985. He also preceded her in death.
In earlier years, she was employed by the American Pearl Button Factory in Washington and upon retirement, was a seemstress for the J. C. Penney Company of Davenport.
Pearl was an accomplished seemstress and enjoyed cooking as well.
Those left to honor her memory include her daughter & son-in-law, Mary Etta & Bob McDonald of Brighton, Iowa; her sons & daughter-in-law, Dean & Mary Bender of Eldridge and Larry Bender of Davenport; her grandchildren, Mike McDonald & his wife, Gerri of Brighton, Todd Bender & his wife, Jackie of Long Grove, Iowa, Jeff Bender & his wife, Karen of Eldridge, Angela Bender and Emiliee Bender, both of Davenport and Kim Hammen of Washington, Iowa; five great-granddaughters; and her sister, Violet Erwin of Washington.
In addition to her husbands, Pearl was preceded in death by an infant son; and her brothers, Howard, Ralph & William.
