Pearl L. McCabe, 84, a resident of the Bettendorf Healthcare Center and formerly of Dixon, Iowa died on Monday, February 4, 2008 at the center.
Her funeral service will be held at 1:30 P.M. Friday, February 8, 2008 at the McGinnis-Chambers Funeral Chapel in Bettendorf. Visitation will be from 12:30 P.M. to 1:30 P.M. Friday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Dixon Cemetery, Dixon, Iowa.
She was born February 22, 1923 in Lawrence, Kansas, the daughter of Ira & Dora (Walters) Blanchfield. On December 17, 1958, she was united in marriage to Glenn W. McCabe in Rock Island, Illinois. He preceded her in death on August 14, 1994.
Pearl was employed as a nurse’s aide at the former Osteopathic Hospital in Davenport.
She was a former member of the Davenport Moose Auxillary and enjoyed gardening, reading and “Powder Puff” automobile racing.
Those left to honor her memory include her daughters, Glenna (Mike) Rohlf of Davenport and LaDonna (Dr. Gary) Anderson of Bettendorf; her sons, Dr. Richard (Nancy) Shaffer of Davenport and Robert (Halina) Richardson of Annapolis, Maryland; twenty-eight grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren.
In addition to her husband, Pearl was preceded in death by her sons, Clifford Shaffer and Jerry Shaffer; her infant daughters, Patricia May & Kay Ann McCabe; and her brothers, Paris Bryson and Vernon Bryson.
