Pennie Sue Cady, 63, of LeClaire, Iowa, passed away peacefully on Thursday, August 4, 2016 at the Clarissa C. Cook Hospice House in Bettendorf, Iowa after a fight with cancer.
Her memorial service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, August 9, 2016 at McGinnis-Chambers Funeral Home in Bettendorf. Visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Monday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Sandra J. Schulze American Cancer Society Hope Lodge in Rochester, Minnesota, Kids Against Hunger or to the Clarissa C. Cook Hospice House.
Pennie was born on November 28, 1952 in Burlington, Iowa to Kenneth and Eloise (Carlson) Kerr. She was CEO at US Auctioneers in LeClaire for 25 years.
She enjoyed quilting, baking, and crossword puzzles. She was also an avid sports fan enjoying basketball and hockey especially. Pennie was generous with her time and volunteered in many ways. She enjoyed providing gift baskets for silent auctions, knitting hats for premature babies in the NICU, providing homemade quilts to comfort children in hospitals, and making her grandsons’ Halloween costumes year after year.
Those left to cherish her memory are sons Daron Cady (Mallory Mullen) of Charlotte, North Carolina and Daniel (Erica) Cady of Atlanta, Georgia; grandsons, Dayton, Mason and Hayden; mother Eloise Kerr; siblings Neal (Pamela) Kerr, Nathan (Yvonne) Kerr, April (Dave) Getchell all of Morning Sun, Iowa; and five nieces and nephews and special friend of 28 years, Dick Phelps of Davenport.
Pennie was preceded in death by her father, Kenneth Kerr.
