Peyton White

d. June 8, 2015

Peyton Nicholas White, 9, of Davenport, Iowa, passed away peacefully at home, Monday, June 8, 2015, surrounded by those who loved him most.

Peyton was born on November 18, 2005 in Davenport to Jason and Jessica (Coppess) White.  He attended Herbert Hoover Elementary in Bettendorf and for the last two years was lovingly taught by his dedicated teacher, Miss Deena Taylor.  Peyton loved the color green, Ninja Turtles (especially Donatello), SpongeBob and Mario.  He had a smile that could light up the room and was the bravest boy anyone had the privilege to know.

Peyton was diagnosed with a rare degenerative terminal disease called Metachromatic Leukodystropy (MLD) in May of 2011.  He courageously fought this disease, along with his family, until the end.

Those left to honor Peyton's memory are his parents, Jason and Jessica, brothers, Preston and Parker, at home; his grandparents, Mike and Cyndi Emler-Hintz ( Ga-Ga and Papa), Bettendorf;  his Papa Don Coppess, Blue Grass; and his great-grandma Patricia Hopwood (MooMa), Davenport.  He is also survived by his uncles and aunts, Mike Coppess (Uncle MoMo) and Karie (Kiki) Kaufman, Cisco, Illinois, Donnie Coppess (Uncle Doo), Blue Grass; seven first cousins; and many second cousins, aunts and uncles.  Peyton was lucky to have his home health care nurses and home hospice for the past four years who helped his parents take care of him and he loved them dearly.

A celebration of life will be held Saturday, June 13, 2015 at 10:00 a.m. at Our Savior Lutheran Church in Bettendorf.  Visitation will be held Friday, June 12, 2015, from 5:00 - 8:00 p.m. at Our Savior Lutheran Church and also one hour before Saturday's service.  Burial will be in Pine Hill Cemetery in Davenport.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the family.

The family requests that bright colors be worn to the visitation and celebration of life service.

"I love you to the moon and back, Poppy.”
