Phil A. Piechowski, 58, a resident of LeClaire, Iowa, died Tuesday, June 5, 2007 at his home after a courageous battle with cancer.
A memorial mass will be held at 11:00 A.M., Saturday, June 9, 2007 at Our Lady of the River Catholic Church in LeClaire. A Celebration of Life service will be held at 5:00 P.M. on Friday, June 8, 2007 at the Mississippi Bend Area Education Agency in Bettendorf. Memorials may be made to the American Association for Cancer Research.
Phil was born June 22, 1948 in Browns Valley, Minnesota, the son of Adolph & Ann (Block) Piechowski. He obtained his Masters in Social Work from the University of Minnesota. On September 8, 1973, he was united in marriage to Joyce A. Jorgensen in Plymouth, Minnesota.
Phil had been employed for 30 years with Area Education Agencies, the last 25 years as Coordinator of Special Education Services at the Mississippi Bend Area Education Agency.
Phil enjoyed living and boating on the Mississippi River. He also enjoyed hikes with his daughters and his dog Skipper.
Those left to honor his memory include his wife, Joyce; his daughters Megan Piechowski, of Clearwater, Florida, and Kylah Rasche and her husband, Lincoln, of Rock Island, Illinois; his brothers and sisters-in-law, Terrell and Alta Piechowski, of Blanding, Utah and Curtis and Geri Piechowski, of Sebring, Florida; and many nieces and nephews.
Phil was preceded in death by his parents.
