Phyllis Rank

Phyllis Elder Rank, 92, a resident of Bettendorf, Iowa died Thursday, December 2, 2010 at her home.

Services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Tuesday, December 7, 2010 at the Davenport Memorial Park Chapel, Davenport, IA. Memorials may be made to St. James Lutheran Church, Bettendorf, Iowa. McGinnis-Chambers Funeral Home, Bettendorf, Iowa is assisting the family with arrangements.

Phyllis was born March 16, 1918 in Fairfield, Iowa the daughter of Harry and Ethel (Frazier) Elder. She was a graduate of Fairfield High School and the Ottumwa Business School, Ottumwa, Iowa. She was united in marriage to Ralph Rank on August 27, 1943 in Elko, Nevada. He preceded her in death on May 25, 1995.

Phyllis worked as a bookkeeper and secretary for many companies including French and Hecht, Davenport Iowa, Pioneer Distributing, Rock Island, Illinois and the Davenport YMCA. She was also the co-owner of Rank Construction Company, Bettendorf, Iowa.

She was a member of the Bettendorf Bowling Association and a charter member at St. James Lutheran Church, Bettendorf.

Phyllis loved to bowl and competed in local, state and national tournaments. She also enjoyed playing cards, games and volunteering for the American Cancer Society.

Those left to honor her memory include her daughter, Barbara Schultz, Jacksonville, Florida; her son, Richard Rank, Dallas, Texas; her five grandchildren; her five great-grandchildren; her niece, Mary Davidson, West Jordan, Utah and several other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Ralph, her brothers Donald Elder and Raymond Elder and her mother Ethel (Frazier) Fisch.
