Phyllis “Kathy” Reardon, 75, a resident of Bettendorf, died Wednesday, May 31, 2017 at her home.
A memorial gathering will be held from 10:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m. Monday, June 5, 2017 at McGinnis-Chambers Funeral Home in Bettendorf. Following the visitation, a graveside service will be held at the Rock Island National Cemetery. Those wishing to attend the service should meet at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or Mississippi Valley Regional Blood Center.
Kathy was born on January 20, 1942 in Cleveland, Ohio, the daughter of Phillip and Irma (Zuchegno) Margletta. She graduated from Dover Saint Joseph High School in 1960. On May 20, 1964 in Akron, Ohio, she married the love of her life Lynn D. Reardon. He preceded her in death on September 21, 2013.
Kathy worked as a cook at Ross’ Restaurant in Bettendorf for many years. She enjoyed visiting the Isle of Capri casino, bowling, and rooting for the Notre Dame Fighting Irish. When her children were younger, she was active in their schools, Band Boosters and Girl Scouts. Kathy was known for making many caricature birthday cakes for family and friends.
Those left to honor her memory include her daughters, Kelly Reardon of Bettendorf, Colleen (Thaxton) Brooks of Houston, Texas, and Laura (Michael) Stewart of Ocoee, Florida; step-daughters, Cathy (Pete) Linton of Las Vegas, Nevada and Lindee Teague of Gahanna, Ohio; five granddaughters; one grandson; three great granddaughters; two great grandsons; sister, Andrea (David Bennington) White of Dover, Ohio; and a brother, Leonard (Mary Jane) Margletta of Dover, Ohio; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; one granddaughter; and a sister, Phyllis.
