Randy Schmidt

Randy R. Schmidt, 68, of Ankeny, Iowa, formerly of Davenport, Iowa passed away on Friday, January 13, 2023 at Taylor House – Unity Point Hospice in Des Moines, Iowa.

Visitation will be from 10:00 – 11:00 a.m. on Monday, January 16th at McGinnis-Chambers Funeral Home, Bettendorf, Iowa.  Burial will follow at Glendale Cemetery, LeClaire, Iowa.  Memorials may be directed to the family.

Randy was born on October 21, 1954 in Kewanee, Illinois the son of John and Judith (Smith) Schmidt.  In 1972 he graduated from Galva High School and continued his education at Morrison Institute of Technology.  He married Emily Herbster in Morrison, Illinois in 1979.  Randy worked as a welder at John Deere in Davenport and later in Ankeny.

Those left to honor his memory are his father, John Schmidt of Altona, Illinois; brothers, Shane (Kristy) Schmidt and Michael (Laurie) Schmidt, all of Galva, Illinois; several nieces and nephews; and his two beloved feline companions, Jaxson and Pippen.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Judy; his sister, Laura Payne; and his wife, Emily.
