Randy S. Schwerdtfeger, 50, a resident of LeClaire, Iowa, died Sunday, September 18, 2005 at his residence.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 A.M., Tuesday, September 27, 2005 at McGinnis-Chambers Funeral Chapel, Bettendorf. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Rock Island National Cemetery, Rock Island, Illinois where military honors will be conducted by the Honor Guard of Scott Air Force Base, Belleville, Illinois. Memorials may be made to the family, Disabled American Veterans, or the Rock Church of the Quad-Cities.
Randy was born June 7, 1955 in Davenport, Iowa, the son of George L. & Dorothy L. (Worton) Schwerdtfeger. Randy served in the United States Air Force from 1974 to 1980. Following his honorable discharge, he was employed as an architectural designer.
He was united in marriage to Judith A. Speight on November 27, 2004 in Riverdale, Iowa.
Randy enjoyed spending time with his family and extended family. He also enjoyed architecture, drafting various projects, traveling, and watching the Jacksonville Jaguars
Those left to honor his memory include his wife, Judith; his mother and step-father, Dorothy and Chester H. Morris; his father and step-mother, George and Joyce Schwerdtfeger; his second mother, Arlene Watson Schwerdtfeger; his step-children, Carrie Gentile and her husband, Tony and Randy Speight and his wife Margie; his step-grandchildren Nicole, Derek, Victoria, and Taylor Marie; his step-great-grandchild, Nichole; his brothers, Thomas W., George L. Jr., Ronald D. and his wife, Dawn, John D., Charles L. and his wife, Grace, and Steven S. Schwerdtfeger, and his wife, Teri; his step-sisters, Irene M. Ramirez, and her husband, Al, Kathy Eckert and her husband, John, and Diane Toland and Sandra Ippolito; his step-brothers, Charles Denison and his wife, Estelle, Robert Hamilton, Chester D. Morris, and his wife Phyllis, Jeffrey W. Morris and his wife, Regina, and Terrence L. Morris, and his wife, Rose; and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews and cousins.
Randy was preceded in death by his sister, Linda K. Dudley, his uncle, Glenn E. Schwerdtfeger; his brothers, Donald G. and Richard C. Schwerdtfeger; and his niece, Gillian R. Harmond.
