Rebecca Castro, 93, of Bettendorf, died Monday, March 25, 2013 at her home.
Funeral Services and Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, March 28, 2013 at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Bettendorf. Visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Wednesday at McGinnis-Chambers Funeral Home in Bettendorf. A Christian Wake Service will be held at 4:00 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Mt. Calvary Cemetery in Davenport. Memorials may be made to Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church.
Rebecca was born December 10, 1919 in Davenport, the daughter of Frank & Felicitas (Carrillo) Cordero. She was united in marriage to David Castro on October 26, 1935. He preceded her in death on October 28, 1986.
Rebecca was retired from Bettendorf Community Schools where she had worked in food service. She enjoyed embroidery, gardening, and watching her sons play sports as they were growing up.
Those left to honor her memory include her daughter, Rita Lowry of Bettendorf; her sons and daughters-in-law, Tony & Julia Castro of Bettendorf, David & Ruthann Castro of Carlsbad, California, and Richard & Cindy Castro of Bettendorf; ten grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; her sister, Eloise Borgus of Davenport; and her brothers, Richard Savala and Bill Savala, both of Davenport and Alfred Savala of East Moline, Illinois.
In addition to her husband, David, Rebecca was preceded in death by her son, Chuck; one sister; and four brothers.
