Richard Boone

Richard Lee “Dick” Boone, 62, passed away on Friday, September 29, 2017 at his home in Maquoketa, Iowa.

His funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, October 5, 2017 at McGinnis-Chambers Funeral Home in Bettendorf, Iowa.  Visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday at the funeral home.  In lieu of flowers, a memorial donation can be made which will go towards an educational fund for his two grandsons.

Richard was born to Richard F. Boone and Patricia (Mullen) Boone on June 5, 1955, in Davenport, Iowa.  He graduated from Central High School in 1973 and continued his education at St. Ambrose University.

Richard was hard-working and a dedicated father to his family. During his lifetime, he worked at Desaulnier’s as a Pressman, previously of Milan, Illinois.  He continued his career at R.R. Donnelley (formerly Bawden’s/Von Hoffman Printing) previously of Eldridge, Iowa.  He was recently retired.

Some of his favorite things were his two grandsons, his pups, a passion for hunting and fishing, and a love for collecting old things.

Those left to honor his memory include, but are not limited to, the mother of his children, Melissa Bowers-Boone; his daughter Sara (Michael) Toliver and son Kent (Christina Norris) Boone, all of Davenport;  his grandsons, Henry Toliver and Gauge Boone. Other surviving members include his brothers James (Barb Stichter) Boone and William Boone, as well as, many aunts, uncles, and cousins.  He was preceded in death by his parents.
