Richard D. Frahs, 84, a resident of Bettendorf, Iowa died Friday, December 31, 2010 at Genesis Medical Center, West Campus, Davenport, Iowa.
Services will be held at 10:00 A.M. on Monday, January 3, 2011 at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Davenport, Iowa. Visitation will be held from 2:00 P.M. to 5:00 P.M. on Sunday at the McGinnis-Chambers Funeral Home, Bettendorf, Iowa and for one hour prior to the service at the church on Monday. Burial will be in Davenport Memorial Park, Davenport, Iowa. Memorials may be made to Immanuel Lutheran Church.
Richard was born March 25, 1926 in Askov, Minnesota the son of Henry A. and Agnes M. (Pearson) Frahs. He was a graduate of Askov High School, and the North Central School of Agriculture, Grand Rapids, Minnesota. He was united in marriage to Twyla R. Buhmann in Davenport, Iowa on February 10, 1951.
He worked as a maintenance machinist at Alcoa for 39 years and was a member of the United Steelworkers Local 105.
He enjoyed woodworking and being in his garden.
Those left to honor his memory include his wife, Twyla, Bettendorf, Iowa; his daughters, Denise (Jim) Petersen, Davenport, Iowa and Sheryl (Doug) Phillips, Riverton, Iowa; his son, Mark (Melissa) Frahs, Bettendorf, Iowa; his grandchildren, Kristi (Jason) Jergens, Kimberly (Aaron) Stueve, Kathryn (Daron) Blackman, Brian Frahs, Sara Frahs, Benjamin Phillips and Nicholas Phillips; his great-grandchildren, Quintin Stueve, Addisyn Stueve, Kasadie Jergens and Jaydden Jergens and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
