Richard W. “Dick” Hintze, a resident of LeClaire, Iowa passed away peacefully at his home on Sunday, January 16, 2011 surrounded by his family. He fought a courageous battle lymphoma

A celebration of life memorial service will be held at 11:00 A.M. Wednesday, January 19, 2011 at the Bettendorf Presbyterian Church, 1200 Middle Rd. in Bettendorf. Following the service the family welcomes friends to join them in the fellowship hall for a meal. In addition, the family extends an open invitation to join them at their home to continue to celebrate Dick’s life. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the family. McGinnis-Chambers Funeral Home of Bettendorf is assisting the family with arrangements.

Dick was born May 1, 1953 in Davenport, Iowa to Richard Jack Hintze and Darlene Vonne (Cale) Hintze. He met his wife, Denise Pratt in 1978 while they worked together operating carnival games. They were married October 12, 1986.

He attended the University of Northern Iowa, Palmer College and the University of Iowa before deciding his true passion was in the amusement business where he became known as “Dozer Dick.” His family was his main focus in life and he watched with pride as his children developed their careers, goals and their own families. He especially loved spending time with his family. He often said his grandchildren were the light of his life.

He is survived by his wife, Denise (Pratt) Hintze; his daughter, Abbey Hintze and her fiancé, Dustin Drach & their daughter, Kylica Drach; his son, Richard Hintze and his fiancé, Renea Andrew & children, Richie Hintze & Genevieve Hintze; his son, Timothy Hintze and his girlfriend, Emily Miller; his sister, Susan Hintze & her children, Allison Hintze and Kyle Hintze; his brother, Robert Hintze & his significant other, Peggy Peters; his long-time employee, friend & “adopted” son, Gene Daniels; as well as many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of life-long friends.

His parents and an infant sister preceded him in death.
