Richard J. "Dick" Hoefer, 74, a resident of rural Donahue, Iowa died Friday, May 7, 2004 at his home.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 P.M. Wednesday, May 12, 2004 at Chambers Funeral Home, Eldridge, Iowa. Rev. Christian H. Meyer will officiate and Mr. Joe Ragona will offer a eulogy. Burial will be in Davenport Memorial Park. Visitation will be from 5:30 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. Tuesday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the Donahue Volunteer Fire Department.
He was born March 30, 1930 in Columbus, Ohio, the son of Herbert & Ellen (Tolle) Hoefer.
Dick & his father owned & operated Building Products Company, a steel fabrication firm, in Davenport for many years. In addition, he managed the family farm in rural Donahue.
During the Korean Conflict, he served in Germany with the U.S. Army.
His memberships included the Donahue American Legion, the Donahue Sportsman’s Club, the Elks Lodge, Ducks Unlimited and the Masonic Lodge.
Those left to honor his memory include his sister, Lois Wegener of Pekin, Illinois; his niece, Alane Wegener of Tucson, Arizona; and his nephew, Dirk Wegener of Loves Park, Illinois.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
