Richard Kirshy

Richard M. “Rich” Kirshy Jr., 51, of Eldridge, Iowa, formerly of Wausau, WI and Brooklyn, NY, passed away on Wednesday, December 14, 2022, at The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center, Houston.

A memorial service will be held at 5:00 p.m on Friday, December 30th at Chambers Funeral Home, Eldridge.  Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m until the time of service.  Inurnment will be at a later date at St. Charles / Resurrection Cemetery in Farmingdale, New York.  Memorials may be directed to the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society by visiting their website at: www.lls.org.

Richard was born on August 15, 1971 in Brooklyn, New York, the son of Richard M. and Rosemary B. (Dunne) Kirshy.  He graduated from Xaverian High School, Brooklyn, in 1989 and continued his education at Pace University, New York City.  On June 20, 2003, he married Jennifer Opper in Wausau, Wisconsin.  Rich worked at various insurance companies as a claims manager, but most recently for Sentry Insurance.  He was a devoted husband, supported his children in all their endeavors, and was a friend to all.

Those left to honor his memory are his wife, Jennifer Kirshy of Coralville; his children, Scout Kirshy and Logan Nelson, both of Coralville; his parents, Richard & Rosemary Kirshy of New York; siblings, Michele (William) Martell of New Jersey, Jennifer (Frank) Arzberger of New York, and Daniel (Leslie) Kirshy of New York; and numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, William & Emily Kirshy and Jeremiah & Eleanore Dunne; his aunt, Virginia Kirshy; his uncle, Ronald Kirshy; and his cousin, Alison Dunne.
