Richard Lease

Richard H. Lease, 83, of Bettendorf, died Saturday, January 10, 2015 at Genesis Medical Center, East Campus, Davenport.

Funeral services will be held at 12:00 p.m., Wednesday, January 14, 2015 at McGinnis-Chambers Funeral Home in Bettendorf.  Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the services on Wednesday at the funeral home.  Private graveside services will be in Davenport Memorial Park.  Memorials may be made to Camp Courageous or the Shriners Hospitals for Children.

Richard was born March 8, 1931 in Olds, Iowa, the son of Cecil & Grace (Hamil) Lease.  He served in the United States Army and was a combat wounded Korean War Veteran.  He was united in marriage to Shirley J. Alfred and later united in marriage to Marilyn J. Borgus in 1978.

Richard was retired from Alcoa where he had been employed for 41 and ½ years.  He was a life member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 9128 in Bettendorf and Korean War Vets 168. He was also a member of the Davenport Masonic Lodge #37.  Richard loved to travel, tend to his vegetable garden and will be remembered as an avid Cardinals fan.

Those left to honor his memory include his wife, Marilyn; his daughters, Janet (Don) Wolverton of Rock Island, Illinois and Diana (Bob) Brooks of Davenport; his step-son, Michael (Jami) Borgus of Davenport; ten grandchildren; fourteen great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Richard was preceded in death by his parents; his sister, Doreen; and his brother, John.
