Richard L. “Dick” “Pee-Wee” Lindstrom, 76, of Donahue, Iowa, died Wednesday, December 4, 2013 at his home.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, December 7, 2013 at Chambers Funeral Home in Eldridge. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the services on Saturday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Davenport Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Donahue Volunteer Fire Department or to the Donahue Lions Club.
Dick was born November 19, 1937 in Davenport, the son of Lyle & Clara (Hebbeln) Lindstrom. He was united in marriage to Janet N. Hallowell on January 31, 1965 in Salem, Iowa.
He had served in the United States Navy aboard the USS Illusive & USS Force from 1956 to 1960. Upon completion of his military service, Dick was employed at the WG Block Company in Davenport and then with Caterpillar. He retired in 1989.
He was a charter member of the Donahue Lions Club and had held several board positions with the club. He had also been a member of UAW Local 215 where he had also held office.
A fan of NASCAR, Dick enjoyed car racing of all kinds. He was a Chicago Bears fan and had enjoyed watching the Chicago Cubs as of recently.
Those left to honor his memory include his wife, Jan; his daughter, Joleen McAllister of West Burlington, Iowa; his son, Gary Lindstrom of Galesburg, Illinois; his grandchildren, Laura, James and Gillian; his sisters, Sally (Ken) Wuestenberg of McCausland, Iowa, Berti Lindstrom of Davenport and Vicki (Lyle) Braun of Davenport; his brothers, Bernie Lindstrom of Wheatland, Iowa and Gene Lindstrom of Davenport.
Dick was preceded in death by his parents; his father-in-law, Wayne Hallowell; his sister-in-law, Florence Hallowell; and his brother-in-law, Kenneth O’Key.
