Richard Smith

Richard Dale Smith, 81, a resident of Princeton, Iowa died, Monday, November 14, 2016 at his home with his loving family at his side.

Private family funeral services will be held. Burial will be at Oakridge Cemetery in Princeton. Memorials may be made to the family for a memorial to be established. McGinnis-Chambers Funeral Home in Bettendorf is assisting the family with arrangements.

Born on August 25, 1935 in Galesburg, Illinois, Richard was the son of Dale and Inez (Podaski) Smith. On September 23, 1953 in Bettendorf, he married Phyllis Colene Dudley.

Richard worked as a general mechanic for Alcoa for 40 years. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, boating and camping.

Those left to honor his memory include his beloved wife, Phyllis; daughters, Carolyn (Marty) Lemaster of Muscatine and Diane Abney of Davenport; son, Mark Smith of Princeton; grandchildren, Kerry (Trey) McBride and Kate Lemaster; great-grandchildren, Evan and Colin McBride; brother, Gene (Nancy) Smith of Blue Grass.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Roger Smith; and four sisters, Beverly Sprout, Judy Sidwell, Sherry Hokinson and Phyllis Herrick.
