Richard D. “Dick” Torry, 88, a resident of LeClaire, died Saturday, January 23, 2016 at Clarissa C. Cook Hospice House in Bettendorf.
Funeral services celebrating his life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, January 29, 2016 at Princeton Presbyterian Church in Princeton, Iowa. Burial will be at Rock Island National Cemetery. Visitation will be from 9:30 a.m. until time of services on Friday. Memorials may be made to the church. McGinnis-Chambers Funeral Home in Bettendorf is assisting the family with arrangements.
Born on March 8, 1927 in Maxwell, Iowa, Dick was the son of Roy and Flossie Maude (Fish) Torry. On January 3, 1992 at Princeton Presbyterian Church, he married Betty Anderson.
Dick worked for Iowa/Illinois Gas & Electric in the electric meter shop, retiring in 1991. He loved playing music and was a member of numerous bands in the area, including the Scott-Clark Band. Dick enjoyed traveling and was a very caring man who dearly loved his family.
Those left to honor his memory include his wife, Betty; children, Rick Torry of Phoenix, Arizona and Kathleen Torry of Mesa, Arizona; step-children, Sharon (Jim) Walker of Wayzata, Minnesota, Annette Beerbower of Daveport, Steve Wing of Washington state and Dennis Wing of Davenport; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
