Richard H. “Dick” Winrow, 77, of Bettendorf, passed away on Monday, June 20, 2016 at the Clarissa C. Cook Hospice House in Bettendorf after a courageous battle with esophageal cancer.
A service to celebrate his life will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, June 24, 2016 at the McGinnis-Chambers Funeral Home in Bettendorf. He will be laid to rest at Davenport Memorial Park. Visitation will be at the funeral home from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Memorials may be made to the family.
He was born June 30, 1938 in Pleasant Valley, Iowa, the son of Henry & Norma (Anthony) Winrow. On April 8, 1961, he was united in marriage to Gladys L. Crawford at St. Mark Lutheran Church in Davenport. She preceded him in death on November 10, 2014.
Dick had worked for over 35 years at Alcoa. He will be remembered as a wonderful father, grandfather and husband. He enjoyed fishing, had bowled in earlier years and loved the time spent with his grandchildren.
Those left to honor his memory include his sons, Jeff (Stacie) Winrow of Davenport and Scott Winrow of Lincoln, Nebraska; his grandchildren, Landon, Sarah (Spencer), Amber, Anthony, Karyn, Brooke & Paige; his sister-in-law, Jill (Gus) Grell of Arizona; his sister, Sharon Pellegrino (Bob Kasuba) of Coraopolis, Pennsylvania; and his beloved feline companions, “Tigger” and “Theresa.”
In addition to his wife, Gladys, he was preceded in death by his parents; and his grandson, Chase.
