Richard K. “Rick” Fetters, 63, a resident of Davenport, Iowa died on Saturday, June 20, 2009 at his home surrounded by his beloved family.
His funeral service will be held at 10:30 A.M. Wednesday, June 24, 2009 at the McGinnis-Chambers Funeral Chapel in Bettendorf, Iowa. Burial will be in the Rock Island National Cemetery. Visitation will be from 1:00 P.M. to 3:00 P.M. and 4:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. Tuesday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the family.
He was born December 16, 1945 in Davenport, the son of Kenneth “Ralph” & Blanche (Rasler) Fetters. On March 30, 1974, he was united in marriage to Dawn M. Griebel in Bettendorf.
Rick was employed in product production at the Oscar Mayer & Company of Davenport. In earlier years, he worked for the Caterpillar Company and for the J. I. Case Company.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy during the Viet Nam Conflict and was honorably discharged in 1969.
His beloved grandchildren were the joy of his life and he loved every minute he could spend with them. The Chicago Cubs and the Green Bay Packers were his favorites and he enjoyed hunting & fishing as well. Rick was an avid archer and was a member of the Davenport Valley Archers.
Those left to honor his memory include his wife, Dawn; his daughters, Dama Jean Betzer of Riverside, California, Holly Carr of Davenport, Katie Thorpe of Rock Island, Illinois and Brenda Fetters of Davenport; his grandchildren, Janelle Dryer, Justin Dryer, Eliseo Noriega, Amanda Reid, Harmony Carr, Anthony Carr, Arianna Fetters and Lilah Fetters; his sisters, Jackie Robinson of Maysville, Iowa, Barb Ernst of Clinton, Iowa, Sharon Anderson of Black Rock, Arkansas and Pauline Meier of Maysville; his brothers, Art Freeze of Davenport and Kenny Fetters of Deridder, Louisiana; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and wonderful friends.
Rick was preceded in death by his parents.
