Richard B. “Rick” Kloppenborg, 70, of Bettendorf passed away Friday, November 4, 2022 at ProMedica Skilled Health & Rehabilitation, Davenport.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, November 18th at McGinnis-Chambers Funeral Home, Bettendorf. Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service at the funeral home. Private family burial will be at Rock Island National Cemetery.
Rick was born on July 15, 1952 in Davenport, Iowa, the son of Bernard and Mary (Bradley) Kloppenborg. Following his graduation from Bettendorf High School in 1970, he joined the U.S. Navy. Rick was honorably discharged in 1980. On July 12, 1986, he married Sandra J. Mangels in Davenport. Rick worked as a subcontractor transportation driver. In his earlier years he enjoyed bowling in local leagues with his wife, fishing with his children, and dabbling in various woodworking projects. Rick enjoyed sports and was an avid Iowa Hawkeyes, Chicago Bears, Bulls, and Cubs fan. Above all, he was a devoted husband, dad, and grandpa.
Those left to honor his memory are his wife, Sandra of Bettendorf; children, Matt (Rachel) of Durant, Stephanie of Davenport, and Brad (Tiffany) of Davenport; and six grandchildren, Carter, Alexis, Alea, Riley, Kinsley, and one on the way, Kade; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a grandson, Chase; two sisters, Carol Mason and Kathleen Arp; parents-in-law, Billy & Mary Mangels; and his canine companion, Dusty.
