Rita M. Carrillo, 79, of Bettendorf, passed away on Sunday, May 19, 2024 at Allure of the Quad Cities, Moline.
Graveside services will be held on Saturday, July 20th at Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Davenport. Those attending should meet at McGinnis-Chambers Funeral Home in Bettendorf at 10:30 a.m. to join the procession to the cemetery.  Per her wishes, cremation rites have been accorded. A celebration of life will follow at McManus Park in Bettendorf from Noon – 3:00 p.m. and everyone is welcome.
Rita was born on June 1, 1944 in Davenport, the daughter of Joseph and Rosa (Sanchez) Carrillo.  She attended Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic School.  Following her graduation from Bettendorf High School in 1963, she completed her training as a certified nursing assistant.  She worked at the former Oak Glen Home in Coal Valley, Illinois for over 30 years.  Rita took great pride in her work and gave her patients exceptional care and compassion throughout her years of service.
After retirement Rita enjoyed being a night owl and was known for her frequent late night shopping trips to Walmart. She was also known to be quite the talker and spent many late nights on the phone with all her loved ones. She loved spending time with her children, grandkids, and great-grandkids. All of her family and friends meant so much to her. Rita had a love for animals; butterflies and dogs. Her love for her dog Snuggles was unmeasurable. She was a collector of porcelain dolls, angels, and crosses.  Her faith in Jesus Christ was unwavering and guided her to be a remarkable mom and grandma. Rita attended Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Bettendorf, and most recently enjoyed attending the services at Allure.
Those left to honor her memory are her children, Brian Pietz of Gilberts, Illinois and Suzette (Roy) Peters of Bettendorf; four grandchildren, Savanna, Cale, Eric, and Mandy; five great-grandchildren, Jaden, Kaylynn, Lillian, Riley, and Easton; and five siblings, Peggy, Ruben, Rose, Richard, and Rachel.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved dog, Snuggles and siblings, Christopher, Helen, Elvira, Juanita, Joseph, and Rudy.
