Rita C. Redmond, 83, a resident of Davenport, Iowa passed away at her home on Monday, March 9, 2015 after an extended illness.
Funeral services and Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Friday, March 13, 2015 at St. John Vianney Catholic Church of Bettendorf. She will be laid to rest at Davenport Memorial Park. Visitation will be from 10:00 A.M. to 11:00 A.M. Friday at the church. Memorials may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice.
She was born in Michael, Illinois on March 18, 1931, the daughter of Henry & Leonora (Daly) Roundcount. In 1960, she was united in marriage to Warren Harding Redmond in Davenport. He preceded her in death in 1978.
Rita spent her life enjoying being a mother & homemaker. In her early years, she worked as a bookkeeper and later in the health care field.
She enjoyed putting puzzles together, watching “Wheel of Fortune” and many beloved family gatherings.
Those left to honor her memory include her daughter, Mary (Todd) Speer-Collins of Rock Island, Illinois; her sons, David Redmond and Richard W. Redmond, both of Davenport; her step-daughter, Carol Meier of Ankeny, Iowa; her grandchildren, Rachel (Todd) Lawler, Brian Speer, Conner Speer, Elle Speer, Heather Decker, Mark Decker, Matthew Redmond and Allison Redmond; her great-granddaughter, Mya Lawler; her sisters, Bernadette Holcomb, Patricia Roundcount and Ruth (Richard) Scher, all of Davenport; and her nieces, Deborah Booker and Terry Hanley.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; her daughter, Nora Gordon; and her sisters, Cecelia Tharp and Terry Chappell.
