Rita Mae Blayney, 70, a resident of Bettendorf, Iowa died on Thursday, December 18, 2008 at the Bickford Cottage in Davenport, Iowa.
Her funeral service will be held at 11:00 A.M. Tuesday, December 23, 2008 at the McGinnis-Chambers Funeral Chapel in Bettendorf. Burial will be in the Rock Island National Cemetery. Visitation will be from 9:00 A.M. to 11:00 A.M. Tuesday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Amenity Hospice or the American Heart Association.
Rita was born in Davenport on July 13, 1938, the daughter of Albert Clarence & Helen Marie (Wanzel) Lehman and was a graduate of Bettendorf High School. On November 12, 1960, she was united in marriage to Jimmie Lee Blayney in Bettendorf.
Rita was a devoted wife, loving mom and beloved grandma and will be sadly missed by those who loved her. She worked with the lunchroom staff at the Bettendorf Public Schools and most recently, was also a caregiver with Genesis Visiting Nurses Association.
Rita was a member of the Ladies of the Moose, enjoyed playing cards with her family & friends, was an avid bowler and was an accomplished baker & cook.
Those left to honor her memory include her husband, Jim Blayney; her sons, William Lee (Olivia) Blayney of Mokena, Illinois, Patrick James (Cynthia) Blayney of Geneva, Illinois, and Daniel Dean Blayney of Schaumburg, Illinois; nine grandchildren; her mother & father-in-law, Helen & Bernard Roush of Dixon, Illinois; her sisters, Betty Schneeckloth of DeWitt, Iowa, Lois Thiemann of Bettendorf, Sandy (George “Skip”) Boldt of Wilton, Illinois, Carol (Gary) Jensen of Bettendorf and Diana (Gary) Werts of Bettendorf; her brothers, Pete (Colleen) Lehman of Bettendorf, Wayne (Jean) Lehman of Bettendorf, Dale (Susie) Lehman of Odessa, Texas, Gary (Mary) Lehman of East Moline, Illinois, Ronnie (Eldora) Lehman of Bettendorf and Dick (Chris) Lehman of Odessa, Texas.
Her parents preceded Rita in death.
