Robert H. Brown, Sr. 94, a resident of Geneseo, IL, formerly of Davenport, died Monday, July 11, 2016 at the Good Samaritan Society in Geneseo.
Funeral services celebrating his life will be held at 12 Noon on Friday, July 15, 2016 at McGinnis-Chambers Funeral Home in Bettendorf. Burial will be at Davenport Memorial Park. Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. until 12 Noon on Friday. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.
Born on January 6, 1922 in Galseburg, Illinois, the son of Vernon and Amy (Swanson) Brown. He married Hazel Bond in 1947 in Charleston, Missouri. She preceded him in death in 1991. He then married Shirley Prenevost in 1995.
Robert was a machinist, retiring in 1983 from J.I. Case Co. in Bettendorf after 25 years of service. He enjoyed traveling and country dancing.
Those left to honor his memory include his wife, Shirley Prenevost-Brown; sons, Robert “Bob” (Pam) Brown, Jr. of Davenport, William “Bill” (Moria) Brown of Waterloo and Toby (Nancy) Brown of Davenport; daughters, Pat Brown of Camas, Washington and Brenda (Mike) Barnhart of West Liberty, Iowa; seventeen grandchildren and six great-grandchildren; a sister, Mary Junkin of Fire Lake, Illinois; and a brother, Dan Brown of Idaho.
He was preceded in death by his parents; first wife, Hazel; and a sister, Margaret.
