Robert Burmeister

Robert Allen “Bob” Burmeister, 76, a resident of Long Grove, Iowa, died Tuesday, January 26, 2016 at Genesis Medical Center, East Campus in Davenport, Iowa.
Born on March 9, 1939 in Washburn County, Wisconsin, Bob was the son of Frank W. and Dorothy E. (Witt) Burmeister. On June 5, 1971 in Park View, Iowa, he married Janet G. Gluesing.
Bob served his country in the United States Navy from 1957 - 1961. Bob worked as an inspector for J.I. Case and later Case-IH. He was a part-time truck driver at Du-Mor in Grand Mound. He was a member of the UAW-1304 Chapter Retirees in East Moline; American Legion, Post 532 in Donahue, Iowa, AARP and Faith Lutheran Church. Bob enjoyed fishing, hunting, boating, dining out and visiting with friends at local taverns.
Those left to honor his memory include his wife, Janet; daughters, Paulette Meyer of Davenport, Iowa, Christina Beam of Long Grove; Veronica (Mike) Winchester of Colona, Illinois; Kimberly Munford of Salem, Iowa and Jennifer (Michael) Hall of Lexington Park, Maryland; son, Corey (Mary) Burmeister of Clinton, Iowa; 14 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren; sisters, Jean (Dale) Jacobs of Chicago Heights, Illinois, Joyce (Stan) Fox of San Diego, California, Linda (Paul) Stradt of Davenport and Judy (John) VanDeWoestyne of Geneseo, Illinois; brothers, Dale (Doris) Burmeister of Long Grove and Raymond (Linda) Burmeister of Eldridge, Iowa.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, David.
