Robert Harold Ewoldt, 74, of Eldridge, Iowa passed away Wednesday, July 19, 2017 at home surrounded by his family.

Funeral services celebrating his life will be held at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday, July 22, 2017 at Chambers Funeral Home in Eldridge. Burial will be at Fairview Cemetery in Long Grove. Visitation will be from 12:30 p.m. – 2:30 p.m. on Saturday at the funeral home. Memorials in his honor may be made to local food pantries or Bethany for Children and Families.

Bob was born May 20, 1943 in Davenport, Iowa, to Robert and Anna (Meier) Ewoldt. He attended Walnut Grove School, the one room school house now a museum at Pioneer Village in Long Grove. He graduated from North Scott High School and Clinton Community College. He served in the Navy during the Vietnam War from 1964 – 1968 as an aircraft mechanic on the USS Kitty Hawk. He worked as a draftsman at Kartridg Pak, and farmed his family’s land.

On April 26, 1975 he married Rose E. Ryan at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church in Davenport. They had two sons and together enjoyed farming, taking the camper out west every summer, fishing, and gathering at the Ewoldt Pond, or KOB, with friends and family. Bob was a member of the Long Grove Sportsmen’s Club and the local Jaycees. He enjoyed spending time with his dogs, woodworking, puzzles, westerns, and fishing trips up north.

Bob is survived by his wife of 42 years, Rose; his two sons, Randy (Erin) of Savoy, IL; and Richard (Jady) of Eldridge; and five grandchildren who call him Papa: Jayde, Isaac, Luke, Baylee, and Raelynn.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and one brother in infancy, Richard.
