Robert Garrison, Sr.

Robert D. Garrison, Sr., a resident of Davenport, passed away Wednesday, August 5, 2015 at Genesis Medical Center, East Campus in Davenport.  Funeral services celebrating his life will be held at 10:30 A.M. on Saturday, August 8, 2015 at McGinnis-Chambers Funeral Home in Bettendorf.  Burial will be at Davenport Memorial Park.  Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m.-8:00 p.m. on Friday, August 7, 2015 at the funeral home.  Memorials may be made to the family or V.F.W. Post 828 in Davenport.

Born on December 23, 1932 in Flint, Michigan, Robert was the son of Max and Dorothy (Howell) Garrison.  He was united in marriage to Dorothy Heinrich on March 20, 1960 at Gloria Dei Lutheran Church in Durant, Iowa.

Robert served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean War.  Robert worked as a Diesel Mechanic and retired from Eagle Foods in 1996.  Robert was an avid hunter, and he also enjoyed camping at West Lake Park and at Buffalo Shores.  Robert enjoyed NASCAR and was a huge fan of Greg Biffle, the two sharing the same birthday.  Robert was a recipient of many medals at the Senior Olympics in the category of pistol target shooting.

Those left to honor Robert’s memory include his wife, Dorothy Garrison and his children, Roxanne Garrison and Robert Garrison, Jr. all of Davenport.

Robert was preceded in death by his parents and his brothers, Kenneth and Harold.

Robert’s family wishes to thank Chaplain Willis and the nurses on the Cardiac Step-Down Unit at Genesis Medical Center for their wonderful care during Robert’s final days.
