Robert C. Henzen, 68, of Dixon, Iowa, died Wednesday, April 19, 2017 at Wheatland Manor in Wheatland, Iowa.
Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m., Saturday, April 22, 2017 at Chambers Funeral Home in Eldridge. Visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Friday at the funeral home. Burial with military honors performed by the Dixon American Legion Post 353 will be held at Allen’s Grove Cemetery in Donahue, Iowa. Memorials may be made to the family to be divided among Robert’s favorite community organizations.
Bob was born June 19, 1948 in Davenport, the son of Joseph D. & Dorothy (Lorber) Henzen. He was a graduate of North Scott High School. He was united in marriage to Christie A. Horstmann on September 27, 1969 in Dixon. Bob had also served with the United States Army Reserves.
Bob farmed in Dixon for many years and had worked for Scott County Secondary Roads for 27 years. His memberships included the Scott County and Iowa Cattlemen’s Associations, the Scott County Farm Bureau, the Quad-City Times Plus 60 Club and the Dixon American Legion. He had served on the Dixon Memorial Park board as well as the Scott County Cattlemen’s Association, the North Scott Future Farmers of America and the North Scott Athletic Boosters.
Bob adored the time spent with his grandchildren and enjoyed taking them fishing. He relied on his John Deere equipment and will be remembered around his community for riding his Gator in the neighborhood.
Those left to honor his memory include his wife, Christie, his daughters and sons-in-law, Stacey & John Davila of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina and Stephanie & Michael DeCap of Dixon; his grandchildren, Colin and McKenna; and his brothers, James Henzen of Dixon and Donald (Wendy) Henzen of Eldridge.
Bob was preceded in death by his parents.
