Robert George Kopurcki, 87, a resident of Bettendorf, Iowa died on Wednesday, October 10, 2012 at Genesis Medical Center, East Campus in Davenport, Iowa.

Private family services will be held at the McGinnis-Chambers Funeral Home in Bettendorf.  He will be laid to rest with military honors at the Rock Island National Cemetery.  Memorials may be made to the Center for Active Seniors Inc. (CASI)/Jane’s Place or Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church of Bettendorf where he was a member.

He was born November 16, 1924 in Pleasant Valley, Iowa the son of Vincent “James” & Anna (Hamerski) Koprucki.  On June 20, 1946, he was united in marriage to Dorothy Joan Rule in Kewanee, Illinois. Bob loved her dearly and brought her into the Catholic faith.  She preceded him in death on January 25, 2005.

Bob owned & operated the Bettendorf Popcorn House for 20 years, 14 years of which were at Duck Creek Plaza in Bettendorf.

During World War II, he served in the U.S. Army Air-Corps with Squadron A of the 2530 th AAF Base Unit in the Northern Appennines, the Po Valley, Rhineland and Central Europe.  He was honorably discharged as a Tech Sergeant in 1945 and was awarded the European-African-Middle-Eastern Theater Ribbon with 4 Bronze Battle Stars, the American Theater Ribbon, the Air Medal, the World War II Victory Medal and the Good Conduct Medal.

In his spare time, he enjoyed playing bingo and cards with his friends.

Those left to honor his memory include his daughters, Anne Emerson of Amarillo, Texas, Joleen Koprucki of Charlotte, North Carolina and Mary Ross of Davenport, Iowa; his son, Joseph Vincent Koprucki of Bettendorf; four grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by his sister, Margie; his brothers, James and Paul; and his parents.
