Robert E. Lundholm, 83, of Dahinda, Illinois and formerly of Princeton, Iowa, died Thursday, June 22, 2017 at his son’s home in Dunlap, Illinois.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, July 1, 2017 at Our Savior Presbyterian Church in Argo where he was a member. Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Friday at McGinnis-Chambers Funeral Home in Bettendorf. A Masonic Service will also be held at 7:30 p.m. Friday evening. Burial will be in Salem Lutheran Cemetery in Princeton. Memorials may be made to Our Savior Presbyterian Church or to the College of Engineering at Bradley University in Peoria, Illinois.
Robert was born March 13, 1934 in Chicago, Illinois, the son of Henry S. & Leola M. “Lee” (Hamilton) Lundholm. A graduate of Moline High School, he served in the United States Navy during the Korean Conflict. He then attended Bradley University where he obtained his degree in engineering.
He was united in marriage to Alice Smith and later to Trudy A. Lipe on November 12, 1976 in Argo. She preceded him in death on November 17, 1997. He was employed as a professional engineer with the Schleber Company and with Air Control in Clinton, Iowa.
Robert lived in Princeton from 1976 to 2007. He had been a member of the Princeton Volunteer Fire Department and the Princeton Lions Club. A 32nd Degree Mason, his memberships included the Scottish Rite in Clinton, Kaaba Shriners and the Snow Masonic Lodge #44 A F & A M of LeClaire.
He enjoyed fishing and flying, having been a private pilot. He was proud to have gone on an Honor Flight to Washington D.C. in May of 2016 with his grandson, Robbie as his guardian.
Those left to honor his memory include his daughter, Susan Martens of Princeton; his son and daughter-in-law, Robert & Rachel Lundholm of Dunlap; his step-son, Allan French of Clarksville, Tennessee; his grandchildren, Brittany, Kimberly, Robbie, Courtney, Bradley, Analise, Gillian, Brock and Claire; and three great-grandchildren.
In addition to his wife, Trudy, Robert was preceded in death by his parents; and his granddaughter, Heather.
