Robert Meyer

Robert L. Meyer, 48, a resident of Houston, Texas and formerly of Bettendorf, Iowa died Tuesday, June 1, 2004 at his home following a brief illness.
A sharing of his life in memory will be held at 11:30 A.M. Saturday, June 5, 2004 at the McGinnis-Chambers Funeral Chapel, Bettendorf where visitation will be from 10:00 A.M. until service time Private family graveside services will be held later at Oakland Cemetery, Denison, Iowa. Robert was born in Boston, Massachusetts on August 29, 1955, the son of Glenn A. & Helen M. (Anofsky) Meyer. He was a graduate of Bettendorf High School, attended the former Palmer Junior College and moved to the Houston area in 1978.
He retired from the Houston Lighting & Power Company. Bob assisted and volunteered much of his time to the Bering Community Service Foundation and other community organizations.
He enjoyed the companionship of his many friends and loved to travel.
Those left to honor his memory include his mother, Helen M. Meyer of Bettendorf; his sister & brother-in-law, Donna & Leslie Lauritsen of Bettendorf; his niece, Emily Lauritsen of Bettendorf; his nephew, Michael Lauritsen of Eau Claire, Wisconsin; and his aunts & uncle, Bertha Maak, Phyllis Weaver and Ken & Marge Meyer, all of Denison, Iowa.
Robert was preceded in death by his father, Glenn; and his partner, Barry L. Petree, PhD.
