Robert O. “Bob” Twedt, 79, a resident of Bettendorf, Iowa died on Sunday, November 6, 2011 at Trinity Bettendorf.
Graveside services will be held at 1:00 P.M. on Friday, November 11, 2011 in the chapel at Oakdale Memorial Gardens in Davenport. Visitation will be from 4:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. Thursday at the McGinnis-Chambers Funeral Home of Bettendorf.
He was born in McCallsburg, Iowa on October 5, 1932, the son of Allis L. & Mildred L. (Schauper) Twedt and was a U.S. Army veteran. On October 24, 1953, he was united in marriage to Dolores “Dee” McCoy in Bettendorf. She preceded him in death on January 7, 1997.
Bob worked for the Iowa/Illinois Gas & Electric Company as a lineman and in the toolroom.
He was a member & past-president of the Izaac Walton League and was a member of the Bettendorf Presbyterian Church. Bob was an avid bowler and was a member of the Greater Davenport Bowling Hall of Fame. He & his wife Dee were instrumental in establishing Junior Bowling in the Quad-Cities. The Chicago Cubs, the Chicago Bears and the Iowa Hawkeyes were his favorites and he loved the times spent fishing with his “little buddy,” Shaynen.
Those left to honor his memory include his daughter, Carmella Twedt of Bettendorf; his grandson, Shaynen Ireland; his sister, Dorothy Baum of Union, Iowa; and his aunt, Mary Manning of Marshalltown, Iowa.
In addition to his wife, Bob was preceded in death by his sister, Carla Fay; and by an infant brother.
