Robert Weaver

Robert F. Weaver, 83, a resident of Davenport, died Friday, May 6, 2016 at Clarissa C. Cook Hospice House in Bettendorf.

Funeral services celebrating his life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, May 12, 2016 at McGinnis-Chambers Funeral Home in Bettendorf. Burial will be at Pine Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be on Wednesday, May 11th from 5:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. and on Thursday, May 12th from 10:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to Clarissa C. Cook Hospice House or the American Cancer Society.

Born on October 29, 1932 in Oxford, Iowa, Bob was the son of Harry and Elva Mae (Barklow) Weaver. On April 14, 1956 at Holy Cross Lutheran Church in Davenport, he married the love of his life, Dorothy Moeller. She preceded him in death on December 20, 1993.

Bob was a 1951 graduate of Tipton High School. He proudly served his country in the United States Army from 1953 – 1955. Bob worked as a cold rolling mill operator at Nichols Aluminum in Davenport for 47 years.  Bob and Dorothy loved to travel.  Family vacations every summer were spent traveling across the United States.  He loved attending his grandchildren’s sporting events and activities, always there supporting and cheering them on.  After retirement Bob enjoyed wintering in Texas with family and friends.

Those left to honor his memory include his children, David (Gina) Weaver of Davenport, Phyllis (Steven) Meyer of Davenport and Amy (Todd) Arvanis of Omaha, Nebraska; grandchildren, Karl, Mallory and Libby Weaver, Trey and T.J. Meyer, Stephen (Alli), Jordan (Tricia) and Alexander Arvanis; great-grandchildren, Eisley and Ezra Arvanis; sister, Carol Sawyer of Colorado; brothers, Kenny (Shirlene) Weaver of Iowa City and Jim (Marlys) Weaver of Davenport; brother-in-law, Charles (Linda) Moeller of Davenport; friend in Texas, Carol.

He was preceded in death by his wife; parents; brothers, Ray and Herb; sister, Rosie.
