Roberta B. Fluharty, 89, a resident of Milwaukee, Wisconsin, formerly of Bettendorf, Iowa died Friday, October 29, 2010 at Wheaton Franciscan Hospice, Milwaukee. A prayer services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Thursday, November 4, 2010 at the Asbury United Methodist Church, Bettendorf, Iowa. Visitation will be held from 10:00 A.M. to 11:00 A.M. Thursday at the Church. Burial will be in Oakdale Memorial Gardens, Davenport, Iowa. Memorials may be made to the church where she was a faithful member. McGinnis-Chambers Funeral Home, Bettendorf, Iowa is assisting the family with arrangements.
Roberta Bell Chase was born on November 19, 1920 in Des Moines, Iowa. She graduated from Drake College with a degree in teaching. She taught grammar school until 1943 when she met and married George O. Fluharty on July, 24, 1943. A lifelong volunteer she was presented an award by the state governor for her contribution of service to the elderly of her community. Roberta was a member of Asbury Methodist Church for over 40 years. She is survived by her son, George M. Fluharty of Milwaukee Wisconsin and will also be remembered by her friends and members of her community.
